The Social Cognition and Automaticity Research Laboratory is an experimental social and clinical psychology research laboratory in the Department of Psychology at American University, directed by Clara Cheng, PhD, Assistant Professor of Psychology at American University.

Social cognition refers to the way in which we perceive, understand, and make sense of ourselves and others in our social world.  Broadly speaking, the research in our lab examines both the nonconscious and conscious aspects of social cognition.
